Only 12 Slots: RBI’s Young Professional Contract Track for Finance, Data and Law Specialists

RBI's Young Professional Recruitment 2026 offered 12 specialist contract posts spanning finance, data science, economics, law, cybersecurity and communications.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) opened a narrow but high-profile hiring window this year: just 12 Young Professional (YP) posts under Advertisement No. RBI/2026-27/01, with online applications accepted from 15 June 2026 to 6 July 2026 via rbi.org.in.

The posts are carved across six specialist domains — Finance/Fintech takes the largest share at 3 posts (MBA Finance, CA or CFA), followed by 2 each in Data Science/Analytics (B.Tech/M.Tech CS/IT or M.Sc Statistics), Economics/Research (MA/M.Sc Economics or PhD), Legal/Regulation (LLB/LLM), and Cybersecurity/IT (B.Tech/M.Tech CS/IT/Cybersecurity), with a single post in Communications/Media (MBA Marketing or Mass Communication).

Applicants needed to be 25 to 35 years old as on the notified cut-off, with relaxation of 3 years for OBC non-creamy layer, 5 years for SC/ST, and 10 years for PwBD candidates. General/OBC/EWS candidates paid the notified application fee, while SC/ST/PwBD applicants were exempt.

RBI’s four-stage selection covers application screening, a domain-specific written test or online assessment, a personal interview with an RBI panel, and document verification with a medical check — with the final merit ranking built from cumulative performance across all stages.

Selected candidates go onto a one-year contract, extendable on performance, drawing a consolidated stipend along with HRA or accommodation assistance depending on posting city, plus access to RBI’s research databases, hands-on exposure to senior economists and regulators, and a formal service certificate at contract’s end.

RBI has tentatively slotted the written test and interview for August 2026, results for September, and onboarding for October — timelines it has flagged as subject to revision, with updates to be posted on rbi.org.in.
