Inside TCS’s Plan For 10 Gemini AI Hubs By Year-End

Tata Consultancy Services plans to open 10 Gemini Experience Centres worldwide by the end of 2026, with its latest one launching in Kolkata in partnership with Google Cloud.

Tata Consultancy Services is racing to build out a global network of AI showcase facilities, with plans to open 10 Gemini Experience Centres (GECs) around the world by the end of 2026. Four of those centres will be located in India, underlining how central the domestic market is to the company’s AI strategy.

The latest addition to that network opened this week in Kolkata, run by TCS’s Consumer Business Group and built in partnership with Google Cloud around its Gemini models. The centre is aimed at consumer businesses that want to co-create and test AI-led products rather than adopt technology off the shelf.

Kolkata is now the third Indian city to host one of these labs, joining the Retail Innovation Lab already running in Chennai and the BFSI Innovation Lab in Bengaluru. Each lab targets a different industry, letting TCS pair its consulting depth with Google Cloud’s infrastructure for sector-specific pilots.

TCS says the expansion reflects a broader strategic bet on partnering with hyperscalers as companies move past experimenting with AI and start deploying it at enterprise scale. Murali Ramanathan, CTO of the consumer business group, said the Kolkata centre ‘provides a dedicated environment for consumer businesses to co-create, test and scale AI-led offerings,’ calling it part of an effort to help enterprises ‘move from pilots to enterprise-scale adoption.’

Shivir Chordia, director of partnerships, India, at Google Cloud, echoed that framing, saying the Kolkata launch ‘marks a crucial step in accelerating agentic AI adoption’ and that the joint work with TCS is ‘helping customers realise business value faster.’
