Rising chip costs may be why Google is scrapping the 128GB Pixel option

Analysts say rising global tech component costs could be behind reports that Google's Pixel 11 lineup will drop its 128GB storage tier entirely.

Analysts have noted that rising global tech component costs will impact the final retail prices and baseline specifications of Google’s upcoming Pixel 11 series, expected to launch on August 12.

A new leak, first reported by French deals website Dealabs, claims the Pixel 11 lineup — likely to include the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold — may launch without a 128GB storage option, with all models instead starting at 256GB, a major change from previous generations.

The leak also suggests European prices could rise by around €100 on some models. The standard Pixel 11 could start at €999 for the 256GB model, the Pixel 11 Pro at €1,199, the Pixel 11 Pro XL at €1,399, and the foldable Pixel 11 Pro Fold at €1,999. No US pricing has leaked so far.

Leaked rumours suggest the devices’ physical silhouettes will remain largely identical to previous generations, with one notable exception: a rumoured ‘Pixel Glow’ physical notification indicator, alongside new software and Gemini AI features.
