How a Gujarat textile unit became a 52-country export powerhouse

Chiripal Group now exports to more than 52 countries and runs manufacturing facilities across Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Jammu, with group revenues exceeding ₹15,000 crore and a workforce topping 20,000. It started as a single 12-power-loom textile unit that Vedprakash Chiripal set up in Ahmedabad in 1972.

The Group’s core textile business remains one of India’s most integrated: Nandan Denim and Vishal Fabrics together run one of the country’s largest denim and fabric ecosystems, and Nandan Terry has become one of India’s foremost terry towel manufacturers. On the packaging side, Chiripal Poly Films has scaled to 575,000 MTPA of capacity and now serves customers in over 50 countries — a footprint the Group built by layering spinning, weaving, processing and fabric manufacturing on top of the original textile base before moving into petrochemicals, speciality chemicals, infrastructure, education, renewable energy and biofuels.

Renewable energy has become one of the newer growth lines. GREW Solar already operates 6.5 GW of solar module manufacturing capacity and is expanding it to 11 GW in Rajasthan, alongside a new 8 GW solar cell manufacturing facility planned for Madhya Pradesh, both targeted for completion in 2026. Chiripal Poly Films has also added a recycled PET facility in Jammu with 36,000 MTPA capacity that turns post-consumer PET bottle waste into recycled raw material, supporting the Group’s push into India’s circular economy, alongside biofuel investments through True Green Bio Energy.

Second-generation promoter Ronak Chiripal, an MBA graduate of Syracuse University, has been central to this newer phase. He founded Nandan Terry Ltd. in 2016, and under his leadership it became one of India’s top five terry towel manufacturers within four years, posting a turnover of ₹1,600 crore.

The Group has paired that industrial growth with sustained community programmes, including an annual blood donation drive collecting over 5,000 units a year (50,000 units cumulatively), a tree-planting initiative that has added 200,000 trees around Ahmedabad, and food and health camps at Dakor running for close to three decades and serving about 7 lakh devotees annually.
