‘We just love them’: why this McDonald’s staff adores its Friday regulars
Staff at a McDonald's outlet in Murfreesboro, Tennessee say they adore longtime regulars John and Jerry Carroll, who have visited every Friday for decades.
‘We just love them. They’ve been here for a long time,’ said Christina Crisp, general manager of a McDonald’s outlet in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, describing longtime regulars John and Jerry Carroll.
The couple, married for 80 years, have a long-running Friday tradition of visiting the outlet and ordering the same dishes off the menu, decade after decade. ‘For breakfast, we usually eat the Egg McMuffin with sausage,’ John, a World War II veteran, told local news outlet NewsChannel5, adding tomato slices to make it ‘his special order.’
The Carrolls celebrated their wedding anniversary in April and Jerry’s 100th birthday in June; John is 101. During the anniversary celebration, employees at the outlet customised the restaurant’s golden arches signage to read ‘Congratulations to the Carrolls 80 years and counting.’
John shared his advice for a lasting marriage: ‘Treat your wife nice and try to help her all you can and work hard. That’s all we’ve had our ups and downs over the years, but we still made it.’
