Volkswagen Launches Tayron Life in India at Rs 41.99 Lakh, Undercuts R-Line by Rs 5 Lakh
Volkswagen India has launched the entry-level Tayron Life SUV at Rs 41.99 lakh ex-showroom, roughly Rs 5 lakh below the range-topping R-Line trim.
Volkswagen India has launched the new entry-level Tayron Life SUV, priced at Rs 41.99 lakh ex-showroom. The Life trim sits below the range-topping R-Line variant and comes in about Rs 5 lakh cheaper, giving the carmaker a more affordable way into its flagship SUV nameplate.
The Tayron Life will be built locally at Volkswagen’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar facility in Maharashtra. It goes up against the Skoda Kodiaq and the Jeep Meridian in the Indian market, and customers can already book the SUV online or through their nearest VW dealership, with deliveries expected to begin soon.
Visually, the Life trim skips the R-Line’s sport styling package — the front grille, wheel arch cladding and rear bumper trim are finished without the gloss black treatment, and the front bumper gets a revised design with L-shaped grille inserts and a silver trim piece. Key lighting carries over unchanged, including slim Matrix LED headlamps, an illuminated Volkswagen logo and a full-width LED light bar.
The SUV measures 4,792mm in length with a 2,789mm wheelbase, and rides on 18-inch alloy wheels, an inch smaller than the R-Line’s. Inside, the biggest change is the loss of the third row, making the Tayron Life a five-seater, though most features carry over: a 15-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, three-zone climate control, ventilated and massaging front seats, dual wireless charging pads, a 360-degree camera, nine airbags and Level 2 ADAS.
Under the hood, the Tayron Life uses the same EA888 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine as the R-Line, producing 204hp and 320Nm, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox sending power to all four wheels.
