Nissan Tekton launched to rival Duster, Creta, Seltos in India’s SUV market

Nissan has launched the Tekton SUV in India to compete against the Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.

Nissan India has launched the Tekton SUV, priced from Rs 10.49 lakh to Rs 18.59 lakh (ex-showroom) across six variants, positioning it to compete against the Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Victoris and Volkswagen Taigun in the country’s mid-size SUV segment. Deliveries are set to begin 20 July, with bookings open online and at dealerships for a Rs 21,000 payment.

The Tekton shares its underlying platform with the Renault Duster and will be built at Renault’s manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu. The Duster, offered in five variants against the Tekton’s six, is priced from Rs 10.49 lakh to Rs 18.09 lakh, roughly Rs 50,000 below the Tekton across the lineup.

Both SUVs share identical petrol engine options — a 1.0-litre turbo three-cylinder and a 1.3-litre turbo four-cylinder — though the Duster will additionally offer a 1.8-litre strong hybrid powertrain later this festive season, a variant not available on the Tekton.

The Tekton has already received a 5-star safety rating from BNCAP, alongside features including six airbags, Level 2 ADAS and a 360-degree camera.
